Playmate Sheralee Conners
Sheralee Conners was Playboy’s playmate of the month for July 1961.
Born in 1941 in New York she was a dance teacher, part-time advertising actress, model and shop assistant at Dior in Manhattan. The chance to be featured in Playboy must have seemed as though the days of holding down three jobs were over. “Hankering to fly high as a big-time thrush, she sings willingly for the nonce as an off-screen oriole in sixty second TV sales-pitches”
Photographed by William Crespinel and Sherman Weisburd there is a youthful naivety to her photographs. In the 50s and 60s the playmates were almost always photographed outdoors, fully clothed and shown in their home town and/or workplace.
Sheralee is ‘a long-time scholar of cakewalk, Charleston and gavotte and wants to start a summer camp seminar in the Berkshires for serious students of modern dance”
Sheralee’s vital statistics were:
Bust: 35″ Waist: 22″ Hips: 35″ Height: 5ft 9in
But Sheralee will perhaps be best known in Playboy for gracing the December 1962 cover which featured for the first time a front and back opener.
