Last week I caught a brief but excellent set by the Canadian folk singer, puppeteer and producer, Jesse Thom.

Currently touring the UK with The Brothers Gillespie Jesse has been providing backing vocals on a couple of their songs as well as his own set of songs from his album Snowdragons which was voted one of the top ten records of the year by Folk Radio UK.

Snowdragons was released in 2016 and features seven tracks. Particular favourites of mine are Snow into Fire, Edmonton and Marrow, beautifully crafted acoustic songs and listening to Jesse’s description of how his songs came to be written, the emotions which run through the lyrics become even more poignant.

Jesse had a series of postcards designed with QR codes on the back to listen to selected tracks which I thought was a brilliant idea and I love the artwork behind them.
