This is a short post to gloat on the fact I have finally found a nice 1960s edition of The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, the classic book by Alan Garner.
I have two other editions, one, a rather fragile late 70s edition which I would have read as a boy, and another more modern copy for reading.
This edition, published in paperback by Puffin Books, with the wonderful artwork by George W Adamson is the same as the hardback first edition and thankfully, I found a very good copy online, reprinted in 1969. Adamson was a prolific artist, he also designed the hard and paperback covers for Garner’s Moon of Gomrath from 1963.

Puffin Books helped shape many a childhood, to this day they still hold a special significance for me and especially Alan Garner who would be the conduit to Tolkien, Arthur C. Clarke, Moorcock and Asimov as I got older. I am a happy man and can rest easy now!
